The National Science Foundation (NSF) supports research and development (R&D) activities of Sri Lankan scientists across all fields of Science and Technology, benefiting the country's society. The Competitive Research Grant Scheme fosters high-quality research to strengthen the research base and promote socioeconomic development of the country.
The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, the backbone of Sri Lanka's economy, has faced numerous challenges in recent years due to consecutive adverse events. These challenges have significantly impacted national output, employment, and livelihoods, underscoring the need for urgent remedial measures to support MSMEs through these difficult times.
Recognizing the critical role of MSMEs as incubators of innovation and entrepreneurship, the NSF has launched a special initiative to address the research needs of industries with special emphasis on the MSME sector, providing essential assistance, guidance, and expertise.
The main aims of proposed special call are as follows;
- Encourage high-quality research that can contribute to the development and competitiveness of industries with special emphasis on MSMEs in Sri Lanka.
- Developing research and innovation capacity of industries.
- Support projects that provide solutions to real problems faced by industries.
- Promote collaboration between researchers, industry and other stakeholders.
Who Should Apply:
Researchers and innovators focused on addressing research needs of industries with special emphasis on Micro, Small and Medium scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in public and private sector.
Please note that the grants will be awarded based on the availability of funds. Application forms, guidelines and other relevant information could be downloaded from here. NSF decision pertaining to outcome of processing of applications will be the final and not open for further discussion
