Eng. Nipuni Karunaratne is the Digital Technology Manager at Rolls Royce PLC. as well as the Vice Chair of the Rolls Royce Gender Diversity Network in the UK. She has been instrumental in setting up the world’s largest aircraft repair facility in Atlanta, USA under the Rolls Royce PLC.
The NSF constructed a digital platform to harness non-resident Sri Lankan R&D personnel across the globe for national development and Eng. Karunaratne who is a young gifted aeronautical engineers is among the top-flight professionals and scientists registered with the digital platform. She joined hands with the NSF in taking science to the community and strengthening the S&T base of the country. She is a motivational speaker and the talk she delivered 20th October 2021 attracted a large number of students from schools, vocational institutions and universities, igniting their passion for science and technology.
She is presently visiting Sri Lanka with Dr. Shehan Lowe with a view to exploring the possibilities of establishing model high-tech farm. They held discussions on 22 November 2021 with Prof. Ranjith Senaratne, Chairman and the staff of the International Affairs Division, namely Mr. Shantha Siri, Head and Ms Thilina Kandanamulla, Scientific Officer of the NSF in this regard. This proposed project, if successfully implemented, will result in the transfer of state-of-the-art agricultural technology to the benefit of the agriculture sector of the country, giving it a new direction and dimension. The NSF will liaise with the relevant ministry and public sector institutions to facilitate this important investment.
