The National Science Foundation (NSF) is the country focal point and founding member organization of the World Organization for Science Literacy (WOSL). The Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp & Teacher Workshop is an annual event organized by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and Ministry of Science and Technology of China jointly with WOSL, since 2017. This event provides an international platform for scientific exploration and cultural exchange for teachers and students from countries all over the world. This year, NSF facilitated participation of a group of students and teachers in the 7th Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop which was held from 5th to 11th November 2023 in China.
The NSF opened this opportunity for the winners of the best 20 projects of Science Research Project Competition 2022/23 and the teachers who were among the award winners of the “NSF best performed teachers in science popularization 2019-2022” to participate in this programme.
Students were able to gain a unique experience and exposure from visits to universities, high-tech manufacturing facilities, agricultural fields and museums etc in China. All the students who participated in the Maker Camp have won places in the categories of 'Best Team', 'Best Presentation' and 'Best Maker' for the activities they carried out at the Camp.
Teachers who participated in the workshop also got the opportunity to participate in a special training programme designed for teachers enabling them to expand their knowledge and experience.
